Membership in the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is based upon excellence in five areas: scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship, and character. Each category is evaluated independently; therefore, failure to qualify in any one area is grounds for exclusion.

NJHS meetings take place in Mrs. Haynes' room during break.  The dates and a brief summary of the meeting are listed below:

  • 09/11/2014- NJHS members discussed service project ideas for the school year as well as beginning the first project.  Students created a list of smart study habits to distribute to the entire BMS student body. This list was turned into a flyer and then distributed to all 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students at BMS.
  • 09/25/2014- NJHS members will begin preparing for Random Acts of Kindness week, which will take place at BMS October 6-10, 2014.
  • 09/29/2014- NJHS members met to write letters to students caught doing random acts of kindness.  Studens also voluntered to bring muffins and cookies to give to students who received shout-outs during the week.
  • 10/06/2014- NJHS members wrote notes on bright paper to post throughout the school.  These notes intend to encourage BMS students throughout the day and during exam week. NJHS students hung the notes throughout the entire school.
  • During the week of October 6-10, 2014, members of the Booneville Middle School National Junior Honor Society celebrated the act of being kind to one another by encouraging random acts of kindness throughout the school.  Students designed posters and hung them throughout the school, wrote encouraging notes to all students, made and delivered muffins and homemade bread to school staff and teachers, and recognized individual students who were caught being kind to a peer.  Students caught being kind were the following: Jayla Christian, Corey Peeks, Alayasia Grove, Aidan Garvin, Dimiya Williams, Kobe Christian, Jonathan Stephens, Cristin Penrose, Madalyn Carpenter, and Josh Pollard. NJHS members are very proud of the learning environment at BMS and wanted to make it an even more positive environment.  Special shout-outs go to the following NJHS members: Kara Chandler, Sydney Hines, Melinda Spencer, Andrea Mansir, Justin Cunningham, Ravin Chittom, Kobe Christian, Devika Patel, Conner Davis, Allison Tolar, Kaylee Fleming, and Belle Stephens.
